What are FedEx® Delivery Signature Options?
FedEx Delivery Signature Options are specific signature options you can designate for international shipments in order to give your customers extra peace of mind.
Which FedEx international services can utilize FedEx® Delivery Signature Options?
FedEx® Delivery Signature Options is available from any country that offers the following shipping services to select destinations:
- FedEx International First®
- FedEx International Priority®
- FedEx International Economy®
You can choose from four different signature options:
Adult signature required
FedEx obtains a signature from someone at the delivery address who is at least the age of majority (no longer a minor) in the destination country. Government-issued photo identification or other identification customarily accepted by local authorities is required. If there is no eligible recipient at the address, FedEx will reattempt the delivery.
Direct signature required
Someone at the recipient’s address may sign for the delivery. If no one is at the address, FedEx will reattempt the delivery.
Indirect signature required
FedEx may release the package in one of three ways:
Obtaining a signature from someone at the delivery address.
Acquiring a signature from a neighbor, building manager, or other person at a neighboring address.
Gaining authorization from the recipient to release the package without anyone present.
No signature required
FedEx may release the package without anyone present. This option may not be available for all shipments or to all destinations. Please contact Customer Service Team for more details.
Are signature options available to all countries and destinations?
No, signature options are not available to all countries. When using FedEx Ship ManagerTM, signature options will only appear when available for that destination.
How do I select signature options in FedEx automation products and applications?
When using FedEx Ship ManagerTM Software, FedEx Ship Manager Server, FedEx Web Services, signature options can be selected under "Special Handling". Please note these will only appear with a destination that is enabled for those services.
How do I select signature options on a FedEx manual air waybill?
Under "special services", you can select "Direct Signature Required" or "Indirect Signature Required". Please note that "Adult Signature Required" and "No Signature Required" are not available on manual air waybills.
What happens if I select a signature option on a manual air waybill when it’s not available to that destination?
FedEx standard operating procedures will apply and you will not be charged for the signature option.
