FedEx Rates

Why are my rates changing?
For a shipping company, the cost of doing business — fuel prices, the cost of updating or replacing equipment and vehicles, and more — makes it necessary for us periodically to evaluate our rates, surcharges and fees. We make adjustments to enable us to keep investing in our business and ensure that we continue to deliver the shipping solutions and service excellence you have come to expect from FedEx.
What services are affected by the rate change?
FedEx Express package and freight rates increased for U.S. and U.S. export services. FedEx Express U.S. import, FedEx Ground and FedEx Home Delivery® rates also increased. Minimum rates for FedEx International Priority® and FedEx International Economy® changed. There are some changes to fees and surcharges as well.
When will the rate, surcharge and fee changes take effect?
All new rates, surcharges and fee changes took effect on Monday, January 5, 2009, unless otherwise noted.
What are standard list rates?
As a shipper, you pay standard list rates if: 1) you are a FedEx account holder; you do not have discounts applied to your account; you have a shipment picked up at your location or you drop off a shipment at a non-staffed FedEx drop-off location; or 2) you do not have a FedEx account and you have a shipment picked up at your location or you drop off a shipment at a non-staffed FedEx drop-off location.
Where can I find my 2009 rates?

How do I determine when surcharges and fees apply?
You can find surcharge and fee information in the Fees and Other Shipping Information section of the
January 5, 2009 FedEx Service Guide. Updates to surcharges and fees are available online at fedex.com/us/rates2009/surcharges.html.
How is the fuel surcharge determined?
FedEx calculates the fuel surcharge for FedEx Express from the per-gallon price of kerosene-type jet fuel
and the fuel surcharge for FedEx Ground from the per-gallon price of diesel fuel. Go to fedex.com/us/services/fuelsurcharge.html for additional information.
How will the FedEx Express fuel surcharge be adjusted for 2009?
Effective January 5, 2009, FedEx Express will adjust the fuel price at which the fuel surcharge begins, reducing the fuel surcharge by two percentage points. A fuel surcharge will be triggered only when the price of a gallon of kerosene-type jet fuel is greater than $1.30. No changes are scheduled for the FedEx Ground fuel surcharge at this time.
How can I compare rates for different FedEx® services?
There are two resources you can use to compare rates for different FedEx services: the rate tool application at fedex.com/us/rates/ratetools.html and the January 5, 2009 FedEx Service Guide.
